Addressing participants at the recently concluded two-day Athletes Career Transition Workshop held at the SLTU Hall in Makeni, Kamara emphasized that the Commission must be a sanctuary where athletes can voice their thoughts, concerns, and aspirations without fear or hesitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEvery athlete should feel safe to speak their mind,\u201d Kamara declared. \u201cThe Athletes Commission exists to ensure that our voices are heard by the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority, the National Olympic Committee, and even the International Olympic Committee. This is our platform, our space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop, organized by the Athletes Commission of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SLE), focused on helping athletes prepare for life after competitive sports\u2014a critical step in sustaining their upward momentum as they transition into new careers or personal journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a decade of experience representing Sierra Leone on the international stage, Kamara highlighted the importance of the training in equipping athletes with the tools to navigate the complexities of life beyond sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants engaged in robust discussions about amplifying the athletes\u2019 collective voice and tackled pressing issues ranging from rising crime rates impacting athletes to improving relationships with coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kamara reflected on the candid conversations and heartfelt concerns raised throughout the workshop: \u201cWe\u2019ve used this training not only as a shield for our transitions but also as a platform to bring real issues to light. I have reviewed the highlights, and I assure you, these concerns will be conveyed directly to the National Olympic Committee.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also extended heartfelt thanks to all athletes who participated, emphasizing their vital role: \u201cWithout your presence and dedication, neither your federations nor the NOC would thrive. You are the backbone of our sports community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Athletes Commission serves as a vital link between Sierra Leone\u2019s athletes and the National Olympic Committee, working closely with the International Olympic Committee\u2019s Athletes\u2019 Commission to represent and empower athletes within the Olympic Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Sierra Leone\u2019s athletes continue to raise their voices and stand united, Kamara\u2019s message is clear: the Commission is here to support, protect, and amplify the athletes\u2019 journey\u2014both on the field and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
