Sierra Leone Crowned BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 Tournament Champions

Sierra Leone Senior Women’s Cricket Team have been crowned champions of the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20i Tournament after winning seven out of seven matches in Gaborone Botswana. The Ladies faced host nation Botswana in the final on Wednesday and posted 107 runs for five in 20 overs. Botswana replied with 68 for nine, leaving Sierra Leone with a 39-run winner.

Anne Marie Monica Kamara won Bowler of the Series, picking up 12 wickets in seven innings with a bowling economy of 1.79. Captain Aminata Kamara and Emma Kamara had 10 apiece to take the second and third places, respectively.

Best Fielder went to Marie Turay, who dismissed seven batters in seven innings. The Most Valuable Player award went to captain Aminata Kamara. Celina Bull, Emma Kamara, and Ann Marie Monica Kamara took the second, third, and fourth places, respectively. 

This African success will improve the country’s ICC Women’s T20i ranking and will entice local female participants. The Ladies have redefined their NWACC standing as they look forward to the July ICC Qualifier.
