The Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (CGA-SLE), in partnership with the British High Commission, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, organised a beach plastic clean-up at Aberdeen Beach to mark Commonwealth Day 2026.
The initiative is part of the “Clean Ocean Plastics Campaign” launched during the King’s Baton Relay 2025, as Sierra Leone strengthens its focus on sustainability ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including British High Commissioner Her Excellency Josephine Gauld, CGA-SLE President Prince Vandy Sualley, athletes, coaches, and sports federation officials.
Participants collected plastic waste along the beach while raising awareness about marine pollution and the need for collective environmental action.
CGA-SLE reaffirmed its commitment to long-term environmental initiatives, highlighting sport as a powerful tool for promoting sustainability. The organisers also recognised the support of Premier Environ Solutions for their role in the successful clean-up exercise.
