A leaked letter from the Sierra Leone Football Association now in public domain has confirmed repeated breaches of administrative, operational, and regulatory obligations as the reasons behind the Football Association decision to sack former Leone Stars Captain and Inter-Milan striker, Mohamed Kallon as Head Coach of the Sierra Leone senior national team, Leone Stars.
The letter dated 2nd April 2026, signed by the SLFA General Secretary, Mohamed Benson Bawoh cited an Executive Committee meeting followed by their decision to part ways with the Sierra Leone football legend and according to the said letter he repeatedly failed to attend official team and squad announcement press conferences, a basic requirement of his role.
The SLFA letter also stated that he also refused to hold mandatory pre-match and post-match press conferences, violating competition regulations and media protocols that govern international fixtures and also referenced the recent 2026 FIFA Series match against Azerbaijan, where they said he Kallon openly defied FIFA directives by declining to appear at the official press conference despite direct instructions from FIFA officials and Sierra Leone’s delegation. Instead, he authorized a non-designated coach, Paul Kpaka, to represent him, a move the SLFA said undermined the team’s credibility.
The SLFA letter also revealed that Mohamed Kallon refused to travel with the designated Goalkeeper Coach, dismissing him on the grounds of being a foreigner — a decision the SLFA condemned as xenophobic and unjustifiable in a professional sporting environment.
Also, amongst others he was accused of engaging in an unauthorized social media commentary on confidential matters, particularly credential verification processes under CAF requirements, exposing the association to reputational and regulatory risks plus his refusal to appoint and travel with a duly qualified Assistant Coach 2, instead insisting on including an individual who did not meet CAF’s prescribed qualifications.
In all of the ongoing saga, the former Inter-Milan forward had remined silent even though at some point he posted on his Facebook page to make official statement and exposes all lies against him.
